ANC Youth League Statement about Helen Zille

African National Congress Youth League
“HELEN ZILLE CONTNUES TO EXCEL AS NUMBER ONE RACIST AND DISTRACTOR OF GENDER STRUGGLES
The ANC YL is disgusted by remarks attributed to the racist girl Helen Zille, who when failing to defend her stupid and sexist decision to appoint predominantly white males into her cabinet, attacks the President of the Republic of South Africa. The ANC YL calls on Helen Zille to respect the office of the President of the Republic of South Africa and stop making stupid and degrading remarks against President Jacob Zuma. Zille has appointed an all male cabinet of useless people, majority of whom are her boyfriends and concubines so that she can continue to sleep around with them, yet she claims to have the moral authority to question our President.
If the fake racist girl Zille continues to speak hogwash like she has been doing during elections, we will take militant action against her, and demonstrate to her that she does not have monopoly over the Western Cape. The fake racist girl who was dropped on a head as child should understand that South Africa will never be a Mickey-mouse Republic like she wants to portray it. An absolute majority of South Africans support President Jacob Zuma and will find it very disgusting for a fake racist apartheid agent to continue undermining the highest office in South Africa.”
Here is a link to the original document that has subsequently been withdrawn from the ANC Youth League website. Interestingly, the file name reflects the press release from passing of Ivy Matsepe-Cassaburri, and may be an indication of the haste (and anger) with which the Helen Zille press release was prepared and posted.

I saw the reports of this and it is shocking that such incoherent rants are allowed to go out, seemingly unchecked.
It is sad that this election is destined not to be remembered as another step toward a fair democracy, but rather for the fallout in the aftermath from both sides.
To the rest of the world, a leader who was reported to say he had a shower to prevent him getting AIDS does so much damage to South Africa’s reputation in the eyes of the rest of the world.
As with many things in life, whether these things are true or not is not so important, once the press get hold of it.
It really seems like these parties are so caught up in their own agenda that they forget sometimes that they are on centre stage, especially because of the IPL spotlight and the run up to the World Cup.
It is hard to change three hundred years of history and all the anger that goes with it. And, to a large extent, that is still what drives South Africa forward, or backwards, depending on your point of view. It makes reconciliation all that more difficult.
Foreign perceptions are important. Unfortunately they are still about measuring South African norms (or lack of) against Western norms. It is easy look down on other practices when you have a sound-bite (or 140 Twitter characters) describing the issue, and not the hours of debate or hundreds of years of culture that contextualise the issue and round it out.
And by the way Jim, this is not aimed at you. Just a general rant
If one is to stupid and too lazy to contribute to the building of South Africa , join the youth league. Forget the struggle – we did ! Freedom is only for us
I am not sure what your point is?
I didn’t expect it was aimes at me, apologies if it came across as though I did.
I completely agree about it being easy to look down on other practices, too easy in fact! I was born in the UK but have been in and out of Africa since I was 10 years old (and my family was largely from SA). This by no means makes me an expert, but I hear the opinions of my counterparts in the UK who have never been to Africa (and would probably have trouble pointing to it on the map) and these sort of headlines do form (unfair) opinions.
Unfortunately the world is largely full of people who don’t move from their back yard and rely on the media to form their opinion for them. I just hope that over the years some of these people can put their patriotism above their desire for power.
ZILLE HAS DEFINITLEY CROSS THE LINE AND I WOULD AS A COLOURED LOVE TO SEE ACTON TAKEN AGAINST THE RACISTS MONSTOR THAT HAS BEEN RELEASED TO GOVERN IN CAPE TOWN….OR STEP DOWN ZILLE
These clowns are not qualified for any kind of political office. Damn. I hate the circus and now I live in one.
DEMOCRACY GIVES YO FREEDOM OF CHOICE LUKE, NOW CHOSE TO GET TO A WHITE AFRIKAANER LAND…GET NOW GO GO , WE DO NOT NEED THE LIKES OF YOU HERE…WHAT ABOUT THE VERWOERDS,VOSTERS, ETC BIG CIRCUS THOSE CLOWNS HAD GOING HUH
Dear Anthony
The Caps Lock button is usually on the left hand side of your computer keyboard. (The keyboard is the rectangular flat object full of buttons).
You might also want to visit the circus to realize that clowns are funny. There is nothing remotely funny about Apartheid.
Perhaps you might want to check your spelling before posting too. Bad spelling and poor grammar will only cause disrespect.
Ok found it ..so you are the offspring of Verwoerd or is it Voster? How are you dong in Oranje?
Anthony, please understand that caps lock is annoying and the lame sarcasm isn’t witty.
Do you realise how ignorant and Youth League-ish you sound? “ARE U TEH SPAWN oF VoSTER!!?!!” I wouldn’t be surprised if there was drool coming out of your mouth at this very moment.
Back to topic, the comments about Zille are vile and juvenile. There is a saying that when you use stupid in a sentence too many times, it says something about yourself. This is true here, the youth league clearly allows only under 14’s to apply.
Guys
Let’s keep it civil and not attack the person. Otherwise you are no better than Zille, Malema, et al.
Tony
Ok Tony will try to do that and i know my spelling is bad, that is why i have a secratary(nice white lady)
[...] and hilariously offensive ridiculousness which has followed (overseas readers, you HAVE to read this statement from the ANC Youth League), it was Helen Zille’s unnecessary personal swipe at [...]
There is another Helen that i wish could have been in her place, she was a great woman of integrity and wisdom Helen Suzzman
Helen Suzman was lucky in one respect. She was always the opposition. It was simple. All her actions were predicated on that fact and her belief in human rights.
Helen Zille is in difficult place. She is still the official opposition but must now govern the Western Cape. Hard to wear two hats.

All we have to do is work with what we have. People want to always prove that they are better than others. If Helen thinks what she is doing is right she will see in a long run if it works for her. At times people want to be seen as the strongest while they not. Our President is Jacob and Helen has her position lets leave it like that.
Siphe
Time for both of them, and their executives, to get on with their jobs. They are being paid to run a country and a province respectively.
We spend our lives emphasizing our differences when we actually have more in common than we are prepared to admit. So, maybe the two of them will end up being buddies!!
And finally, nobody is all bad. Equally, nobody is all good. It applies to both Zille and Zuma, but most of all, to the opinions that the supporters of each hold about the other. (That made sense??)
Perfect sense Tony.
I have to wonder about how many people realise Zille is far from racist. Helen Zille was an anti-apartheid activist who repeatedly put her life in danger in order to bring about a free, non-racist South Africa. She exposed the truth about Steve Biko while she was still a journalist. Zille also allowed the use of her home as a safe house for other activists. She was forced into hiding for two years because of her activity against the Apartheid government.
The term “racist” should never be applied to Zille. However, I do agree that maybe she could have been more tactful, or perhaps toned down of the character assassination of Jacob Zuma. Our country does not need anymore conflict. Our leaders, both Zuma and Zille should be working together towards a better South Africa. After all, there are a lot of issues that are far more important, crime and poverty just being two of them.
Kathrine
While there are a lot of, mainly white, South Africans that are overtly racist, the tag is now being used so loosely that it could mean anything, and nothing.
And like anything that is overused, it eventually loses its power and effect.
You know people I have been I Cape Town for 6 years and to tell you the truth it is different here compared to Durban for an example. The people here are racist but there is nothing I can do about it. This will always be the case because other people will never change. This we even see with our government. S.A is a lovely country and I decided to take the positives and make them shine so that I can live my life and enjoy it. I’m young and have a lot to do, a lot to see and learn.
Siphe
All the people racist? Overtly racist? And only in the Western Cape, or Cape Town in particular?
Generalisations don’t help when looking for the positives! The reality is that people do change … if there is motivation for them to change.
To all on this site and Tony. Have read all comments regading YL and Helen Zille. Why don’t the YL concentrate more on what they are supposed to stand for. Upliftment of the youth, etc. Someone’s comment was quite true…..the YL, ANC are more concerned about their political power than the people of this country. Start concentrating on what is really important and stop all this internal political blame. Helen Zille is premier of the W. Cape….LIVE WITH IT!!! Get a life and do some good!!
What must be understood is the difference between the ANC in government and the ANC outside government and their roles respectively, so as to understand why the ANCYL responded in that manner even though i felt it was too emotional to be posted to the Media.
The Hellen Zille statement was rather insensitive and disrespectfull to the president of the republic and i think an apology would be in order, so that we can move on as one South Africa not 8 Provinces + 1.
